Aftercare
Aftercare is an essential part of completing your tattoo.
The following guidelines are meant to help your tattoo heal beautifully and remain timeless over time.

🕒 Immediately After Your Appointment
-
Your tattoo will be covered with Second Skin (or regular wrap if you prefer).
-
If using Second Skin, I recommend removing it after 24 hours.
🩹 Removing Second Skin
-
If the Second Skin does not come off easily, do NOT force it.
-
Apply a thick layer of moisturizer (Aquaphor recommended) starting from the edges.
-
Gently lift one corner of the Second Skin and massage the moisturizer underneath, between your skin and the bandage.
-
Slowly work your way around, removing it little by little.
❗ If it still won’t come off easily:
-
It’s completely okay to leave the Second Skin on for one more day (up to 48 hours).
-
Do not pull or rip it off forcefully.
🚿 Showering
-
Showering is not recommended within the first 24 hours after getting tattooed.
-
Do not remove the Second Skin in the shower. It should be removed after showering, not during.
-
When you do shower:
-
Avoid hot water.
-
Do not let soap of any kind touch the tattoo.
-
Do not rub or scrub the tattoo area.
-
Keep the tattoo as protected as possible during the shower.
-
After showering:
-
Gently wipe the area with antibacterial wipes.
-
Apply Aquaphor again.
🧼 Cleaning & Care (first month)
-
For the first week, I do not recommend using antibacterial soap.
-
Instead:
-
Gently rinse the tattoo with clean, running water.
-
Lightly wipe with antibacterial wipes.
-
Apply a thin layer of moisturizer.
-
-
Repeat this routine 2–3 times a day.
* This general care routine is recommended for the first month to support proper healing.
⚠️ Itching & Peeling
-
As the tattoo heals, itching and peeling are completely normal.
-
Do NOT scratch, and do NOT pick or peel any flaking skin.
-
Let the skin shed naturally—forcing it can damage the tattoo and affect healing.
💧 Long-Term Care (After 1 Month)
-
Even after the first month, daily moisturizing is important for healthy skin overall.
-
Tattoos especially benefit from consistent hydration, so I highly recommend continuing to moisturize regularly.
-
Whenever you’re outdoors, please apply sunscreen to your tattoo and your entire body to protect your skin and help your tattoo age beautifully.
